A day between showers........

June has been wet, very wet. Floodingly wet. ( I made that word up)......well anyway, we did get one nice day so we went for a drive. Yup, got to get out when we can these days. It was sunny but cool. Just right for me. We went to the usual haunts but it's always nice so why not.

We stopped in Leland for lunch at Trish's dishes. We had turkey swiss sandwiches and cup of Tomato Bisque soup. I prefer the toasted sandwiches so will be sure to ask for that next time. However I got a nice brownie for dessert and Gerry got a cinnamon roll, he likes the frosting haha. We found the museum this time and it wasn't where we thought it was. Meanwhile we enjoyed the gardens by the river.

The water levels are high all over. We were going to check out Fishtown to see how far the water was up, then decided next time instead. We headed to Port Oneida.

Anyway, we stopped at the Lake with the boardwalk to see who was around. "who" means critters in case you don't understand haha.......low and behold we caught a Muskrat having lunch. So cute. Painted turtles sunbathing as well, and although we heard frogs we didn't see any.

The Redwing Blackbirds were a little more cooperative this time.

I am not sure who this is but some kind of reed warbler would be my guess.

We drove up into the woods this time around. First time this year, we hoped the roads were not washed out and they were working on them and so we asked and got the go ahead.

We took a few back roads and stopped at Traverse Lake. I saw a lovely Dragon Fly. He looked as though made of gold.

On the way we made a stop at the swimming hole on the river. A favourite spot for the kids. The Swan was busy by the Sand Dunes where it has a nest. No little ones in sight yet.

Last stop Empire beach.

A short detour on the way home along one of my favourite roads, Kasben Rd in Cedar.

That was it. We were going to stop and eat at the Hayloft but Gerry's back was sore so we went home instead. A long day driving made his back stiff. So another day for that. Next time I think we will head in another direction.
