Beautiful colours.......................

Thursday came bright and clear and we headed out on our adventure. Tristen wanted to go back to the beach where we went last time. He was home from school with a cough/cold but I figured the fresh air and sunshine would be better than being in his room on his X-box. So off we went.
Just look at all that blue............well he ran through the woods and up and down the beach. He has a "fort" on the beach I think and wants us to always go this far up so that there is never anyone here. Well I agree with that for sure. After we had enough we went and looked for frogs. It was rather cold and I didn't see any. I DID see the Beaver though. I crept up as quiet as I could but lost sight of him. I did find his handywork though
ON the way I missed a great shot of a red tailed hawk, but instead took a picture of this pretty barn
more on the beach
we headed to Narada Lake but no eagles today. Just some noisy Red Wing Blackbirds and some turtles
On the way home we stopped in Empire to see if any deer were about but no luck. The beach was quiet and Tristen went for a walk/climb'
How calm the water was. On the way home on 72 I took some pictures of the moon above us in the clear sky and then down the hill into town.
I took loads of pictures these are but a few of them. WE always have fun, I ask him if he likes to go out like this and he always says yes, so as long as us old folks are not boring him to death, he gets to see wildlife and gets some exercize. I hope it will instill in him a love of the outdoors.

Tuesday Wanderings.................

It was a dark and really cold Tuesday. I couldn't work up any enthusiasm for housework. Usually I can get into it but Monday passed with nothing done and I didn't fancy sitting around another day sooooooooooooooooooooo.........we went out. Low and behold the sun came out. We missed a few good pictures though, first off I saw a small owl sitting in a tree, after backing up it had gone. Ah well I still saw it. I stopped first at the Samaritans Closet and found some cool things. (See English SPirits Pretty Things blog)....then we got some coffee. After that we headed towards Sleeping Bear area.
Without Wild animals I am always happy to see the domestic ones. So on the way to Port Oneida we stopped first at Narada Lake, it was soooo cold I didn't linger but did see this little guy twittering and looking cold. I have ID him as a Song Sparrow.
The geese were nattering so I bet the eagle was around but if so I didn't see him. Saw the Sandhill Cranes along the pathway. At Port Oneida were the other pair and lots of Canada Geese. Saw a hawk on a tree but missed the shot.
I also missed a shot of about 6 deer, can you see the one I did get hiding in the trees. Saw another Vulture along the road really close up. We eyed each other but he flew and I missed the shot, also missed a pretty red Squirrel on a poast eating a nut and that was my luck this day. DID see another Vulture though and we saw where he/she lives. (Turkey Vultures)
I have to look these two (the one I missed and this one) because they are not the same as the ones with the bald head and necks.
I love hearts in nature and have gone by that one often enough, Gerry reminded me today so there it is. Thats all for today. Tristen just came over for the night and tomorrow, he is still sick and Dan and Sara working. Hope I don't get his cold.
