Tristen's Weekend...................

We got Tristen as usual on Friday after his Councel session. We had gone shopping early on in the week and found some "White Castle " burghers in the hope he would like those. We are teaching him to cook the things he likes because he eats sporadically and not when we eat. It's a constant pain to find what he will eat. It's expensive to buy stuff and then he won't eat it. So far he can cook several things on his own and he does so when the mood strikes. He loves Mozzarella cheese sticks and has learned to use the little toaster oven for that. He discovered that one uses a hot pad to put the tray back in the oven as well as taking it out. He asked for some French toast, he sort of learned to do that last time I made it and so I showed him again how to mix it up and then he did the 2nd one himself. He can do spaggetti Os and toast. Anyway not sure how the burghers went over he said he liked them but didn't have any more. He liked breakfast sandwiches and can nuke those...............so Saturday afternoon we took a trip out to Esche Rd in hopes of seeing some basking snakes. Nope, nothing doing. Saw nothing but had a nice walk along the trail and then on the beach.
Only one lady on the beach collecting rocks. There were several cars about but the people all hiking.
It's rather like taking a puppy for a walk, he travels twice as far as we do. Climbing trees and running up and down the banks. Full of energy.
He wants to explore everything. On Sunday it was wet again and we went for a walk over by the State Hospital grounds. He loved that.
Things are starting to green up and small flowers popping here and there.
I have not been over there for awhile, prefering to go out of town. I see the trails are very well worn these days, Kids on mountain bikes and lots of dog walkers frequent the trails. It's nice being so close to town. Selfishly I liked it when it was a wilder place and less traveled.
It will soon look a lot better once the leaves are all out again, the birds were singing and it was a nice up and down hill hike. Some daffodils growing wild from back when there were gardens and no doubt squirrels transplanted them. Wish mine bloomed so well. Next week we will try the Silver Lake paths.......maybe more flowers then too after this rainy few days.

Nice to see Tristen looking so happy and healthy. All that walking and running has to be good for him (and you).

Nice that you are teaching him to make his own food and cook simple things. It will be good for him as an adult if he is on his own.
