Beeswax...................

I don't know who else will remember the really beautiful smell of Beeswax. In many homes I would visit growing up, that was the smell in many homes. One rubbed the wax on the wood and it took a lot of elbow grease to get it back off. Wood was not finished the way it is now. The really great oak and walnut woods of much of the Victorian furniture was polished lovingly with Beeswax. No spray polish, it was hard work but oh the effect was just so worth it. The smell lingered and was its own air freshener.

Bees of cause are hard workers and besides beeswax they give us so much else. Honey. Use honey a healthy sweetener that is actually good for you. What would we do without those little workers. They are becoming endangered. People who have any amount of property should be encourages to give a home to some hives. Without the bees we would be lost. If we do not have the pollinators our food supply is basically gone. Never kill a bee. Any kind of bee.

So true, Janice. I don't recall anyone using beeswax on furniture, but I can imagine how it must have smelled! Good post.
Hugs, Cindy

I love my bees! I love honey! I find there are less bees around, and it is not good! When they are around me gardening, I love it and cherish it! When I was sick, I lived on honey and hot water! I truly believe this contributed to my healing!

I love the smell of beeswax. Don't remember smelling on anyones floors. Alot of people here in Highland have hives. A beekeeper lives up the road from us and cares for them. We have alot of bees in our summer garden. I love your gorgeous wooded bluebells! I have a link party, Share Your Cup Thursday. I would love if you shared some time! Happy to follow you!
hugs,
Jann

The National Trust shop where I used to help out sold beeswax polish. I would occasionally open up a tin and have a little sniff!
I would very much like to keep bees. It isn't practical where we are now, because we are surrounded by residential gardens, but when we move I would hope for more open space.
