Watercolour paintings.............

104_0296 Above is one of my favourite paintings that I did in watercolour. What I like about the medium is the unexpected results I sometimes get. That is also the worst thing about it too. You can not always control the results. One thing I really enjoy is doing the sky. In this next picture I was practicing clouds. 104_0286 The circle you see is a reflection of my camera, I didn't take the pictures out from under glass but I think you can see the effect of the wet on wet technique in the sky. Then by scraping across the sky it looks like rain (I think?).......It is supposed to be an Autumn scene. Below is another Autumn scene, brisk and windy. 104_0291 I will share a few more paintings in my other blogs, I normally only show them in the Pretty Things blog. I will be sharing this with Make it Pretty Monday at the Dedicated house.

Bucket List................

bucketlist I have never really thought of a bucket list, then Evie started one. She being 15 it seemed a tad pointless but on the other hand hers was what one would think typical for a teen. What would mine be? 1/.........Has to be to live long enough to raise Tristen and set him on a straight path to adulthood. That's a given. My first and foremost obligation and desire is to be there for him. 2/.........I think that I would like to travel more. Going home was an experience and having done that I really want to go back. I want to see my home land again while people I love are still healthy, and while I am too. I could write a list of places I would really like to see. Paris and Marseilles and maybe Provence. Rome and some of the Mediterranean countries/cities like Venice and Athens. I would like to see Russia and Africa or at least some of it. There is still a lot of travel in the USA and Canada that I would like to do 3/ ...........Maybe take a cruise. 4/............Get our debt under control so that we can leave something for Tristen. 5/............Get a home in the U.P of Michigan. Either a camper or a small home in the woods. 6/............write a book of poems illustrated by me. 7/............Take some more classes. Photography and painting. Then do some good work. 8/............ I am sure that there are more things I can add in time but that's what comes to mind. What would your bucket list be?

I am Excited...............

I am excited about life. I feel good for a change. It has to be the weather. Not that I felt bad before but did not have this enthusiasm for things. I know that during the winter months it seems so endless, even though this has been probably the mildest winter since we came to Michigan. (1971) We also had one of the worst storms ever a couple of weeks ago and now its in the 80s. That's Michigan for you.
Tristen is off to his Auntie Laura's for the weekend. As I stood with my daughter Laura watching him leave holding his auntie's hand,he was wearing his new fireman yellow rain coat. His Aunt Carrie and Uncle Justin just bought it for him. I reflected on how much he is loved. I always think of his mother Alexandra. We went to the cemetery the other day to make her marker ready for Spring. Its not too bright yet but once the violets grow out and we can put some real flowers there........I want to put some snowdrops and Spring flowers in the ground this Fall.

I am excited too about my new diet. I feel so much better seeing the scale go down if only very slowly. I will see how much I have lost on Monday (when I started) but right now I have gone down about 4 1/2 pounds. That little bit makes me feel good...........such a long way to go though. This is a diet I can live with so if it works I will stick with it. I do crave the bread and potatoes but can reward myself when I have lost 20 pounds and not till then. I think it helps being able to get outside and rake. I have a feeling my garden this year will be a disaster. The little one does not get the idea (or maybe like the idea) of staying off the garden. I have a play area but of course he wants to be where we are and so he and Sylvie (a friends baby) were digging holes in my lawn. Lawn is rather pretentious its not a lawn by any stretch of the imagination. Grass, sort of.......
We are painting the kitchen this weekend. Well the husband is. I am making cushions for the front porch. So I better get back to that.

Procrastination.....

How does one overcome? Well I keep telling myself I have good reason to procrastinate. Tristen keeps me busy. He is soon to be 2 years old. He is so lively and so full of mischief its hard for me to concentrate on anything. I don't really read much anymore although I still buy the books. At least Tristen has a love of books. I still can't believe his mother is gone, maybe that's a part of the problem. Maybe getting over her loss has taken an insidious toll on me, different from what I expected? I just have no oomph!! Oh, I still want to do things, still get excited at the prospect of doing things, especially as I look at all the wonderful creative blogs out there. Then when the time comes I just cant do it. This weekend Tristen went to stay at his Auntie Laura's, she insists that he spend at least a part of every other weekend with her family. It gives me a break and he gets to enjoy a great weekend of activity. So why then am I sitting here. I should be outside. Its perfect weather for gardening but its so overwhelming now, its time to put the garden to bed and prepare for Spring but I just can't tackle it. The job is too big now for one weekend. So should I just let myself off the hook and wait till Spring when it will be more exciting and I will want to get going again?
Then I told myself I would get the sewing machine out. I committed to making some potholders in one of my EONS groups. I really do want to do that. I just cant get motivated. I also want to paint some pictures. I look at some of the blogs on watercolour and really get excited over doing that and then I think of those 10 little fingers and nose into all my stuff and laugh and give up on that idea. Maybe I should try coloured pencils instead? That's an idea.
I WILL start the potholders. Tomorrow.
I have been taking a lot of photos though. That's something at least.
This is one taken last night of Tristen, he is done with his spaggetti.

This is his prize for eating all his spaggetti..............."ice keem"

When all is said and done, he is all that really matters. I have a different life now, that does not mean I wont ever do this stuff again but for now I must be content maybe. Stop feeling inadequate and lazy. I spend so much time sitting when he is playing around here. I have to watch him constantly. With my own kids I had a play room and there were 3 of them. They entertained each other. This is different, he is an only child. I do watch a little girl who is 18 months 4 days a week so he does have a little competition. I don't want to spoil him terribly but ...........well he is only 2. Maybe when we do his room I will get enthused enough to decorate and make things for his room, maybe that will jump start my engines again.
