This England....................

Today is St George's Day...........Prince William and Dutchess Kate had their baby today, another boy... What a pity it is that their first born was named George haha. I wonder what this one will be named, I would love for it to be Arthur.
So today I feel Patriotic as always. I could never ever be American. I love my England too much, even though I may never live there again I will always be English.
Every piece of her is a part of me

“This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,–
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England..”
~‘The Tragedy of King Richard II’- William Shakespeare, who was both born (April 23 1564) and died on this day, (1616).

I love the history, not just the history but the people from our history. I love them too and I can never explain that except in a remote way as being because I love my Queen. They are from her family and so mine.

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land,

“And did those feet in ancient time” (1808) by William Blake, best known as the anthem “Jerusalem”, with music written by Sir Hubert Parry in 1916.
William Blake one of my best loved poets expressed it so eloquently.

Shakespeare hit the nail on the head in the quote above. In today's world it is not politically correct to be Nationalist or whatever they call it. I can be proud to be English without feeling others inferior although I admit that I do believe that the Britons of the past may have been just a bit better than average haha.

I am proud of our Commonwealth of Nations and the part that Britain plays in that. I believe it helps us to be more open minded and comfortable with people of other races, colours, creeds and religions. It is a GOOD thing and I am proud our lovely Queen rules over them, not in an imperialistic way any longer but like the Mum with them as her children, her giving a guiding light and figurehead to rally around.

King Arthur, Bodicea, Alfred, Caractacus, Hereward the Wake all are a part of me, the Romans who came and stayed for 500 years the Vikings. All left their DNA in me. I am a part of and will always belong in England.

I confess to shedding a tear or two when reading this post Janice.
It stirred my very soul.
Forever in my heart: This royal sceptered isle.
*sigh*
