Frequently referred to as "Canada's birthday" the occasion marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. Canada became a kingdom in its own right on that date, but the British parliament and Cabinet kept limited rights of political control over the new country that were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were surrendered in 1982, when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution. Queen Elizabeth 11 is also Queen of Canada.

I hope the bond between Canada and England lasts forever. Canada is my 2nd favourite country. I would love to live there. I live in the USA and believe me, if you are Canadian you are lucky. Celebrate.

Your Queen is my Queen and for me it forms a bond between us. I see Canada as a country that is peacefully inclined. You don't see it in world conflicts too often. It doesn't pose and brag it seems as safe as anywhere can be in these modern times and the people are nice.

The country itself is beautiful. It is vast and wild with majestic scenery. I have often been in Ontario and would go more if I had the time and money. We took the kids when they were young before we needed a passport.

So Canada I miss visiting but we will be back someday soon. Till then enjoy your birthday............
