First stop though was at Veronica Valley nature trails.

It used to be a golf course but has been taken over by the conservancy. They have left most of it untouched and mowed walking trails. We didn't walk too far on this day but wanted to find out what the options were. We saw a Blue Heron thinking about fishing but he retreated until we were done walking around his lake. I checked out the plan for the trails and saw that its a good place for birding so we will be back again and go on a longer walk.

There were loads of berries on the trees and shrubs and they are planting more native trees there as well. This had not been our plan for today though and so we headed for Leland.

I don't know how they intend to save the place if the water continues to rise as it will if we keep getting rain. The river on the other side of the dam is also high. The sea wall was crowded with hopeful fishers

We walked down to the beach just to take some pictures.

Then I walked around the gardens by the library, naturally the flowers were fading but still looked beautiful (unlike mine) Gerry had a headache so stayed in the car. it was a lovely walk non the less.

We headed for Port Oneida but by then Gerry's headache was worse so when I got back to the car after going out on the Boardwalk he wanted to go home

Could not blame him. It had been a pretty good day and on the way we stopped at a lookout to see how much of a change there was out over the forests, another couple of weeks before it peeks I think.

The sun was shining on the Lake you can't always see it from there but it was obvious this day and so home. I went into Olesons and got some fried chicken and salad so Gerry didn't have to wait to eat. No pills on empty tummy and food should help his headache.
