Tristen came today around 10am and so we figured we would go out for the day. First Gerry hacked the lawn, I can't say cut it. Looks horrible. Still it should keep the bugs down. Sick of my ankles getting bitten. Anyhoo........we decided on first go to Empire, we took a back road through the woods.
Wild Granny Bonnets
Tristen needed some flip flops. Could not find any in Empire but got snacks. I got some pictures of pretty blossoms that smelled divine.
...and so we set off headed for Point Betsy Light House and beach. Tristen and Gerry watched a video while I was talking to a lady with a big standard poodle, it was so beautiful and really really black. We got talking, she asked how old my grandson was and I told her his story and she was watching her grandchildren too. We talked about raising children at our age haha and all it entails. Life is strange.
We went to the gift shop and I got Tristen a book on rocks and a Tee Shirt for Gerry.
Boys always have to throw rocks
Tristen wore my sweater
Next we went to the Crystal Gardens but the bird house was not open yet and neither were their gardens. Tristen liked the Rock Shop and Barn Swallow though.
I saw some Pansies but as Gerry was with me, I refrained. Tristen spent his 10.00 on a stuffy, a snake he called Boa.
Look at the price on that Petoskey Stone. I have about 3 like that, hmmmmmm
The little Town of Frankfort. We didn't stop at the beach this time, or the park but there is always another day. We did find some flip flops for Tristen in the end at a small store there.
We were off to the Alpaca farm. Sorry to say the new baby was napping. Bummer. These guys were very cute though and they have opened a whole new store there so now there is twice the temptation.
Those faces, so adorable. They just had their hair cut. The stores sell products from the wool as well as new stuff in the 2nd shop. Love that. I was good.
So after that we headed home stopping for Ice cream in Benzonia where there is a shop that does home made ice cream. I had Coffee Toffee. Yum!!!!!
We happened to have a mosquito in the van and Tristen said "It's OK to kill Mosquitoes right?" I said yes, that's just about all that it's OK to kill. So his next question was "Why did God make Mosquitoes" I said well when you get to heaven you can ask God. He replied "Nah, when I get home I will ask Google".............so life changes does it not.
We asked where he would like to eat as it was getting to be about that time and he wanted to go to the Hayloft. That was in the opposite direction but we were in no hurry and so we headed that way.
They have a small back room and that's why he likes it there. So with two fists full of quarters (I am a sucker) off he goes to play.
Gerry was having a bad memory day. I only ate 1/2 my burrito and had it boxed to come home. Tristen ordered a grilled cheese and frys and didnt take a bite so we boxed that up too. Gerry forgot them on the table but went and got them. He played pool with Tristen and we left without the food. So now he is in the kitchen cooking Tristen a grilled cheese. Haha.

Tristen is growing up quickly! He is so handsome, he looks so happy to be with you both.
Your photos are so pretty. That beach is just amazing.
You should look into selling your rocks! :-)
Tristen has so much fun on your outings, he's a lucky boy to have grandparents who make life interesting and memories to hold on to, when he's older, he'll look back on those times with fondness.
Beautiful and peaceful photos of the beach, and those unusual stones.
Hugs,
~Jo
