Today was another hot summer day. Too hot for me but on the other hand I am tired of doing nothing. Yesterday was giving me a numb bum. Didn't want to do a dang thing. Last night we did get a short storm and that cooled it down just a bit. So, as most of the time would be in an air conditioned car I figured we could at least go find out about the trail I wanted to explore. So off we went. Made 2 stops and will do two posts so they are not too long. First of all we stopped at The Twisted Fish gallery near Elk Rapids. I stop at least once a year just to look.
I first off enjoy their gardens, it's like a sculpture park really but its all for sale.
These are all by the same artist, and I really want one of the Praying Mantis they are about 69 dollars. I didn't dare with Gerry there. Besides I can't make up my mind I like the frog too.
The bigger sculptures are over 1000 dollars but all considered seem reasonable if you have a garden big enough. Lucky for me the small ones will work. I have a couple I have bought over the years. A red ladybug and a Hummingbird. They have weathered well so I would like more. When the flowers are not blooming they are a focal point.
Naturally the gardens themselves are enough to draw me in. I really miss that from England I have to seek these kinds of gardens out.
I must stop out at the gallery in Leland, they have some awesome work out there. You should see the Giraffes. The same artist had to have done the deer at the State hospital barns.
The bugs have been feasting on the roses.
This is the guy I really want.
They have 2 galleries inside. One is in the house and deals with paintings mainly. It was not yet open although I went in, just not set up just yet. I think she said this weekend
The main gallery though has art, as in paintings. Wood crafts, pottery and unusual things, jewelry and glass. Beautiful things. Lovely lady there today.
Anyway I enjoyed that part of the day, Gerry ate his lunch in the van while I was snooping around and plotting. Hmmmmmmm, I DO have a birthday coming up. Hmmmmmmm I wonder.......The Owl did not have a price so not sure about him.
Second part of the trip was to the Trail and beach.
